.: President’s Message
URGENT: The 49er Festival is this Saturday. Maggie Jacobson needs help setting up the booth and taking it down. Please call Maggie (962-8984), immediately, and let her know if you can do the set up on Friday late afternoon and do the take down Saturday after the Festival is over. Also, if any of you have ticket stubs to turn in &/or money, please bring them to the PNQG booth Saturday morning so that we are sure all stubs are turned in before the drawing.
Time just keeps on ticking by. Here we are in September, already. The last two days have definitely felt like fall. It has brought to my mind a block of the month we did several years ago. It was the block that you took 2 blocks of fabric, one light in fall colors and one dark in fall colors. You appliquéd a dark leaf on the light block and a light leaf on the dark block and then cut each in half and mixed them and sewed them together so you have a block that is half dark background and half light background. I never made a quilt like that but I am thinking I would like to do one, someday. Who ever won those blocks, would you bring that quilt to show at the September meeting? It made such a nice fall quilt. Any of the rest of you that made that quilt or any fall quilt, be sure and bring them to put us in a fall quilt mood. Of course, any quilts are welcome. I am not limiting show and tell to just fall quilts; I just thought it would be nice to see some fall quilts if any one has some.
Speaking of getting in the mood, don’t forget that Donna and Liz have a Christmas Workshop set up for us at the Lake Lodge for September 29th. If you haven’t signed up, yet, be sure and contact Donna and let her know you plan to attend & if you want to purchase one of her kits with the supplies you will need. An email went out sometime earlier that had all the information on it. Our lunch will be potluck. There is not a fee for the class. The only cost will be if you purchase one of Donna’s kits. You are welcome to make it with your own fabric, etc. I just talked to Liz O’Connor at the board meeting and she said if you use your own fabric and supplies for the project there is a charge for the pattern. She believes the charge is $10. The pattern is included in the $25 kit.
Those of you that took block of the month kits; be sure and bring them to the meeting, completed of course.
Maenette will not be at the meeting but I do have the fat quarters for those that found the ‘egg’ on the web site.
Don’t forget the Sonora Quilt Show is this weekend at the fairgrounds in Sonora, Saturday 10:00 to 5:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 4:00.
See you at the PNQG meeting on Tuesday, September 20, same time, and same place.
See you all at the meeting,
Your president,
Sue Halstead
